Bromley Belles have again been busy taking part in women’s recreational football events.
Last week, the Belles took a team to a Met Police tournament celebrating LGBT History month. All of the team played well with Mia winning the ‘Player’s player’ trophy. Mia epitomises the Belles. She joined us just 3 months ago, having only played football as a young girl in the local park with boys well over 30 years ago! Mia is a regular Crossfitter, but she would be the first to admit that she was nervous when she first joined the Belles, saying she was worried about things like ‘Am I too old to start?’ Or Am I good enough?’. Mia has never looked back though. Loving every minute she has played in lots of matches, never misses training and has enjoyed our social events.
It’s true to say she is addicted and glad she joined!
At the Belles we understand that some women may feel nervous about joining a new team but we are a welcoming group of women who all share the same passion about football. We range in ages from 30 to 60 plus, and we are all different abilities – most of us, like Mia, had never played before. If you’d like to give us a try, pop along to our training sessions which are every Wednesday at Bromley FC from 9-10pm. If you’d like to watch us play, our next friendly match is this Sunday (23rd) from 5pm onwards on the main stadium pitch.
