Last weekend the Bromley Belles took part in a record breaking weekend for women’s football. The team went to Wembley with over 77,000 other supporters – the largest crowd in the UK to watch an international women’s match – to cheer the England Lionesses against Germany.

The Belles did not let the rain, or the result, dampen their fun and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience of a packed out Wembley and seeing just how much the women’s game has grown in the last few years.
With many recreational football teams in London for the England game it was an ideal time to host a women’s recreational football festival at Bromley FC. On Sunday just under 100 women from 11 clubs descended on Hayes Lane to play a tournament in the brilliant November sunshine. The games were played in a competitive but fun spirit and it was great to meet up again with teams who had also played in this summer’s ‘Old Girls’ world cup. The Bromley Belles fielded two teams and played some great football. After a tight competition, Anchorians narrowly defeated Stafford Soccer Mums on penalties. The Belles were extremely proud to host a tournament at their home ground and would like to thank Bromley FC for their continued support.

If you are over 30 and love kicking, or would love to kick a football around then Bromley Belles is for you! There are no trials or no previous experience needed and all abilities are truly welcome.
